Session Summary:

Child, teen, and young adult brains are in the process of development over the first three decades of life. A brain injury that occurs during that time can significantly interrupt the normal progression of skill acquisition. This pediatric legal session will discuss how a Brain Injury Education Specialist can ensure that clinical and functional aspects of pre and post-school function are brought to light. The presenters will discuss the importance of functional school evaluations, the pediatric expert team approach to ensure a comprehensive plan is created, common brain injury impacts to learning & behavior, how pediatric TBI is different from adult TBI, and how to determine pre- & post-learning and behavior changes to determine current and future supports and services.
