The Dr. Robert D. Voogt Memorial Award celebrates an individual whose dedication and contributions have significantly advanced the field of traumatic brain injury. This prestigious award recognizes achievements in areas such as clinical care, research, policy, litigation, or advocacy, embodying the tenacity and unwavering commitment Dr. Voogt demonstrated throughout his lifetime.
The selected recipient receives $7,500 and a $2,500 travel stipend to attend the meeting. To receive the award, the recipient must attend the respective World Congress on Brain Injury.
Eligibility Criteria
Nominees must:
- Come from any professional background or discipline.
- Be at least mid-career in their professional development.
- Demonstrate expertise and experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Clinical
- Forensic
- Educational
- Research/Scientific
- Professional/Community Service
- Have a proven history of innovative and creative contributions to services for individuals with brain injury.
- Be a member of IBIA.
- Be available to attend the conference to accept the award.
Application Process
Nominations can be made by the individual or another party. Required documents include:
- A one-page statement outlining accomplishments and contributions to the TBI field including how this award would benefit your career.
- Two letters of recommendation from recognized peers in the field.
- A current Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Given by NABIS prior to 2025, and only once at an IBIA World Congress on Brain Injury (2019); a deciding stake, but not sole decision-making authority, has been granted to IBIA under the current terms of the agreement with the Voogt family about this award
