J. Kent Emison

Kent Emison is a founding partner of Langdon & Emison where he devotes his practice to trucking accident, product liability and catastrophic injury litigation. For nearly 30 years, he has served as lead trial counsel in complex personal injury litigation nationwide, including Baker vs. General Motors, a landmark lawsuit against General Motors that went to the U.S. Supreme Court and resulted in a unanimous opinion for his client. Kent dedicates his time to serving in professional organizations, including the Attorneys Information Exchange Group where he serves on the Board and Trucking Committee. He is also a Fellow in the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. Kent is a sustaining member of the American Association for Justice and a member of its Leaders Forum and has spoken nationwide on topics related to trucking accidents, defective products and catastrophic injuries, including traumatic brain injuries. In 2020, 2018, 2017, 2014 and 2011, The Best Lawyers in America and U.S. News & World Report named Kent the "Lawyer of the Year" for personal injury plaintiffs’ litigation for the Kansas City metropolitan area. He also received the 2017 Tom Strong Award from the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, an annual award that recognizes an outstanding trial lawyer in Missouri.
