The International Paediatric Brain Injury Society has recognised an amazing initiative by a rehabilitation provider, Hinds Feet Farm, in the US called Unmasking Brain Injury. The purpose of this project is: to promote awareness of the prevalence of brain injury; to give survivors a voice and the means to educate others of what it’s like to live with a brain injury; to show others that persons living with a disability due to their brain injury are like anyone else, deserving of dignity, respect, compassion and the opportunity to prove their value as citizens in their respective communities.

You can see more about this project at http://unmaskingbraininjury.org

To date, the work that they have done has been with adults and mostly within the US. With IPBIS as a partner they are keen to expand the project to include children and young people and to reach out to other countries around the world. We have, therefore, worked with them to produce guidance for use with children and young people (click button below for guidelines).

We do hope that you are as enthusiastic as we are to promote this project and that you may consider taking time to introduce this to the young people with whom you work.

All contributions received prior to that time will be displayed digitally at the 2022 Joint Conference on Brain Injury in New York which will be held from 22 to 24 September 2022, so you can assure the young people that their voices will be heard by our international delegates.

We do hope that you will consider supporting this initiative.
