Moral Boundaries of Care in Severe TBI
Willemijn van Erp is a PhD-candidate at both the Radboud University Medical Centre in Nijmegen, the Netherlands and the Coma Science Group at the University of Liège, Belgium. She studies patients with disorders of consciousness, specifically the unresponsive wakefulness syndrome, in the broadest sense, from prevalence to comorbidity and from the course of recovery to end-of-life decisions. As a medical doctor, she specializes in long-term care: the unique Dutch medical specialty for nursing home medicine has been in place for over 25 years. In the course of her residencies, Willemijn has gained experience in neurology, rehabilitation medicine in both a rehabilitation centre and various nursing homes, hospice medicine, and general medicine for the heterogenous population that make nursing homes such an inspiring and rewarding place to work.
