Invitation to Submit Papers and Posters
he International Brain Injury Associations Year 2000 Conference on Brain Injury will be held September 13-16, 2000 in Brasília and will be open to all qualified members of the international rehabilitation community. It promises to be a rich and diverse meeting of researchers, scientists, and all the professionals who work in the field of acquired or congenital brain injury from the world over.

Everyone is invited to take advantage of the opportunity to present new ideas on rehabilitation, research, and training in the field of brain injury. Paper and Poster submissions are encouraged.
Abstracts must be written in English and should contain no more than 350 words. You must specify the area correspondent to your work and your preferred presentation format on the official Paper and Poster Proposal Form.
You must submit 1 copy of the abstract containing the name(s) of the author(s), as well 3 copies that do not contain any identifying data, i.e., names of authors, institution, or country of origin. When referring to the study in the abstract, use generic terms (i.e., "general hospital" or "rehabilitation center"). Submissions can also be made via internet; see website http://www.sarah.br/brain2000 for instructions.
Submissions are due no later than February 1, 2000. The Review Committee will acknowledge receipt of proposal. Submissions will be divided into categories and analyzed by an international team of specialists in each specific area. The scientific committee will make the final decision as regards the presentation format for the work. Notification of acceptance and presentation format will be issued by may, 2000.
Please note: all accepted paper poster presenters must pay all of their own expenses related to attending and they must register for the conference.

Paper and Poster
Abstract Information
|
1) Each participant will have 10 minutes to present his/her work, followed by a question and answer session. A qualified moderator will coordinate each session.
2) The following equipment will be available: slide projectors, overhead projectors, video projectors (VHS Multisystem, Beta-Cam and U-Matic systems), and Microsoftã Powerpoint.
3) Presentations may be made in either Portuguese or English. There will be simultaneous translation in both languages.

Paper Guidelines

1) Conference participants will have 20 minutes to view the posters displayed for each time slot. These will be grouped by topic. A 4-minute presentation will be given by the author(s), followed by a question and answer session/discussion. A qualified moderator will preside over each table.
2) Display boards will be provided by the Congress to ensure uniformity of display. Posters should not be more than 1.45 meters (57 inches) high by 91.5 centimeters (36 inches) wide.
3) At least one poster author must attend the session at which the poster is featured.
4) Dates and times of sessions will be provided in the Official Program.
5) Descriptions of posters selected may be incorporated in a conference syllabus and used in press briefings (in consultation with the authors/s).

Due to the many requests that we have received for accepting late submission of abstracts, the organizing committee of the "Year 2000 Conference on Brain Injury" has decided to extend the deadline until Wednesday, March 1, 2000. Abstracts submitted after this date will be not accepted.
All abstracts must be typed or printed onto the designated forms and mailed to: SARAH Network of Hospitals for the Locomotor System, SMHS Quadra 501 Conjunto A, Térreo. 70.330-150 Brasília/DF
