The 4th World Congress on Brain Injury was held 5 - 9 May 2001 at the Lingotto Conference Center in Turin, Italy. Over 700 attendees participated in the events.

The IBIA conducts biennial world congresses and other regional conferences that focus on myriad issues pertaining to brain injury. The focus of the 4th World Congress on Brain Injury was Research, Innovations, and Quality of Life for the New Millennium. The Congress Program included pre-congress seminars and workshops, a focus on brain injury in children and adolescents, a family day, and foci on pharmacology and long-term outcome and quality of life.

The 5th World Congress will be held in Stockholm Sweden on May 23-26, 2003.
