Advances in the Medical Understanding of Pediatric ABI: What we know and don’t know


Coriene Catsman- Berrevoets is associate professor and Head of the Paediatric Neurology department at Erasmus University Hospital/ Sophia Children’s Hospital. She is Chair of the Paediatric Neurooncology  board in her hospital and coordinates the follow up of children after brain tumour treatment. In addition, she initiated research in children with immune mediated brain disease and helped to firmly establish the National Paediatric Multiple Sclerosis Center in Sophia Children’s Hospital.

She is a member of the Dutch platform for acquired brain injury and chairs the Early Care Group. She has also  been involved in the development of the Carepath for children with Traumatic Brain Injury She was board member of the Dutch Paediatric Neurology Society from 1995-2010  and served as Chair of this Society between 2004 and 2010. Currently, she is a board member of the European Paediatric Neurology Society and Chair of its Education and Training Committee. She is involved in the organisation of the International Child Neurology Congres 2016 in Amsterdam and chairs the Education Committee fort his congres.   She is also board member of the Posterior Fossa Society, for which she organises the 2nd international meeting in June of this year as satellite to the International Society of Paediatric Oncology,in Liverpool.

Her main areas of research interest are acquired brain disorders and their (late) effects on cognition. She (co) authored more than 100 publications on Paediatric Neurooncology, Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis and Traumatic Brain injury
