Seventh World Congress on Brain Injury
The International Brain Injury Association is pleased to announce details for the Seventh World Congress on Brain Injury, which will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, April 9-12, 2008. The Congress will be held in conjunction with the National Congress of the Portuguese Society of PMR.

ACCEPTED PAPERS Abstracts accepted for the Seventh World Congress on Brain Injury will be published in a supplemental issue of the journal Brain Injury. Abstracts will be published only if the presenting author is a registered delegate. Presenters of all accepted papers, both oral and posters, must also complete and return the Congress disclosure form. Oral Presentations Unless otherwise noted, accepted oral presentations will be 10 minutes in length, including 2 minutes of Q&A. Please refer to the Scientific Programme for your presentation time. NOTE: oral presenters must e-mail a copy of their PowerPoint slides prior to March 17, 2008. E-mail. Poster Presentations Posters should be formatted to the following size: width = 0,92 m (3 feet) height = 1,82 m (6 feet) Posters will be viewed in two sessions. Session A Abstract #0001-#0235 Thursday, April 10. Presenters must be standing with their poster on April 10, from 13:00-14:30. Presenters may set up their poster on Wednesday, April 9th after 17:00. CONGRESS OVERVIEW The IBIA World Congress is the largest gathering of international professionals working in the field of brain injury. Delegates are comprised of physicians, psychologists and neuropsychologists, therapists, social workers, nurses, case managers, legal professionals, advocates and all others working in the field of brain injury. The Seventh World Congress will feature internationally recognized invited speakers, platform lectures, workshops, short oral presentations and poster sessions. This year's Congress will also include a special one day pre-Congress symposium, co-sponsored with the World Federation of Neurological Rehabilitation (WFNR) on "Advances and Controversies in Mild Traumatic Brain Injury" which will be held April 8, 2008. The aim of the Seventh World Congress is to provide an opportunity for establishing collegial relationships with international professionals focused on the care and/or service of persons with acquired brain injury and/or the science of brain injury research. State of the art research will be presented dealing with information spanning from basic science to clinical (coma to community) aspects of brain injury. International priorities in the field of brain injury research will be discussed. Finally, the Congress seeks to provide didactic opportunities for clinicians interested in advancing their knowledge in brain injury science, medicine and care. CONGRESS LOCATION AND HOTEL The Congress will be held at the Pestana Palace Hotel located in central Lisbon. Classified by the Portuguese government as a national monument, the Pestana Palace is a luxury hotel, and a member of "The Leading Hotels of the World". The hotel has won numerous awards, most recently in 2006 when the hotel was named one of the top 10 hotels in Europe by Expedia. The restored XIX century coach house will be the site of the exhibit hall and the poster sessions, as well as lunches, coffees and breaks. IBIA has negotiated a room rate starting at € 210 per night for the Pestana Palace, as well as three additional hotel categories ranging in price from € 180 to € 50 per night for student accommodation. SOCIAL PROGRAMME The social highlight of the World Congress will be an evening reception and dinner that will take place in the beautiful Ajuda Botanical Gardens at the restaurant Estufa Real. The tiered gardens contain centuries-old trees, statues and a marvelous Baroque fountain decorated with serpents, fish, sea horses, and mythical creatures. Attendees, spouses and guests to the World Congress will enjoy dinner, music and stunning views over Belem, the Tagus River and the 25 de Abril Bridge.
