As Chairperson and President of the IBIA 8th World Congress on Brain Injury to be held March 10 - 14, 2010 in Washington, D.C., USA, we would like to invite the participation of all professionals involved with serving persons with acquired brain injury to this international Congress and meeting of minds. We are very excited about having the meeting in the United States and in particular, its capital, Washington, D.C. This is the first time in our history that a World Congress has been held in the USA. Washington, D.C. is a culturally diverse city with many fine hotels, restaurants, museums, culture events and historical landmarks. | Seventh World Congress Recap
The Seventh World Congress on Brain injury of the International Brain Injury Association was held in conjunction with the Portuguese Society of PRM in Lisbon, Portugal, from April 9-12, 2008. A pre-congress, one day symposium on MTBI, co-sponsored with the World Federation of Neurological Rehabilitation (WFNR), was held on 4/8/08. The event was an overwhelming success with delegates from every corner of the world in attendance.
The conference started off strong with the MTBI pre-congress symposium and an array of world class speakers who shared state-of-the-art knowledge on mild TBI including biomechanics and thresholds of human brain injury, pathophysiology and pathoanatomy, clinical assessment and treatment, long term outcome, vocational re-entry, as well as, methodological limitations of MTBI research as related to practice guideline development. | Congress Recap: Sixth World Congress on Brain Injury
The 6 th World Congress on Brain Injury was held in Melbourne, Australia, from the 4-8 th May 2005, in conjunction with the annual scientific meetings of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFRM) and Australian Society for the Study of Brain Impairment (ASSBI). The Conference Chairman was Dr David Burke and the Scientific Program Chairs were Professor Jennie Ponsford and Associate Professor John Olver, assisted by a committee and conference organizers, International Convention Management Services. The conference was the largest of IBIA's World Congresses held to date, with 1200 conference delegates attending, including brain injured individuals and their families, neurosurgeons, rehabilitation physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, nurses, case managers and lawyers.
