Susanna Staccioli

I am Susanna Staccioli and I was born in Gubbio (Italy) on April 30, 1978. Gubbio is a very nice little city, one of the most famous destination of Umbria, a green region in the centre of Italy. In childhood I attended primary and middle schools and in adolescent I went to a high school specialised in business. I played basketball from 8 to 16 years of age and then swimming. Related to my passion for the science I studied a lot to gain access to medicine at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, with success and I graduated with final mark of 110 (cum laude) in 2002. I majored in paediatric neurology and psychiatry, in 2007. Then I obtained a PhD in Neuroscience of development. After working in some rehabilitative centres, among which there is “IRCCS Fondazione Santa Lucia, Rome”  (from March 2008 to March 2009) I have started to work in Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital, in Neurorehabilitation unit. I was the first doctor to work in the new Unit for Post Acute Rehabilitation. I have performed a strong collaboration particularly with neurosurgical, oncology and intensive care unit. I partecipated in the creation of multidisciplinary group in Neuroncology in our Hospital in 2010.

I think that in our work it is very important to collaborate in multidisciplinary team, in which we must do all efforts to increase your contribution more and more.

Outside of work I like to play tennis, swimming, reading and visiting museums, trekking.
