Biography

Silvia Bressan is a consultant in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Assistant professor of Pediatrics at the University of Padova in Italy. She dedicated to clinical research on the acute assessment and management of pediatric head injury since 2010, when starting her PhD at the University of Padova. While continuing her PhD research at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute in Melbourne, Australia, she had the opportunity to be involved in clinical research on concussion. This included, in the first place, the development of the Take CARe (Concussion Assessment and Recovery Research) project, with the aim of providing an in-depth multidimensional description of post concussion recovery in children, from a physical, neurocognitive and psychosocial perspective, and identify factors associated with prolonged recovery. She could achieve this goal thanks to the precious mentorship of Prof. Vicki Anderson, Prof Franz Babl and Prof Gavin Davis, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, Melbourne, Australia. Additionally, she was involved in other projects, including the pediatric validation of the Sport Concussion Assessment Tool version 3 (SCAT3) and its version for children younger than 13 years of age (ChildSCAT3). Her active involvement, participation and collaboration to the concussion projects at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute have continued after her return to Italy and are still ongoing as an off-campus honorary research fellow.
